Hayway Open Day and Angelic Xmas Party

It was the 5th of December and I had been fighting off a cold all week. But there was no way I was going to miss out on my Wendy day even if I did have a very deep voice courtesy of a sore throat.
And with a busy day planned it was up early and on with the make-up and time to experiment a bit with my hair. As this wasn't a shopping trip I fancied something a little more elaborate than usual. Eventually I settled for a high ponytail with little ringlets either side of the face and behind the ears. My chosen outfit was a variation on the one I wore back into the summer when we went to Newton Longville. But Nicki decided she could really have a bit of fun with her outfit so she wore her all leather ensemble.

After a quick photo session we were ready for our first appointment of the day - the Hayway Shoes open day. The Hay-Way shoes company have their factory in Leicester and they have an open day (with special discounts) every year, but this was the first time I have actually managed to get along. Luckily they are really easy to find (right next to the Space Centre). It was great to see Jackie and Debbie and their husbands again - they are such a fun group and so helpful too. As it turned out quite a few of our friends had also decided to attend.
We met up with JJ and Suze, Sarah (in guy mode) and Jen, and also Cheryl. There were a few other TGs with partners there too. After some welcome socializing (free mince pie and cup of tea too) we got down to the serious business - shopping. Nicki and I couldn't resists trying on some thigh boots and in the end we found a pair that we can both wear (they are tighter on me than Nicki mind!) so we treated ourselves to them. I also bought some Navy blue three inch heeled court shoes which I fell in love with - no all I need is an outfit to match! Happy with our purchases and with a busy afternoon and evening a head we said good bye and headed back to the car (snapping a picture on the way). After lunch at Burger King in the nearby motorway services (which was packed), we headed home.

We had already planned that I'd be able to make up for poor Halloween pics by taking some new ones in the outfit. So we spent a happy hour or so doing that.

And of course we had to take a pic or two of Nicki in the new boots since they went so well with her outfit (as you can see).
Then, still wearing my devil outfit, I ironed my evening dress in preparation for later on when we were attend to the Angelic Christmas meal. I soon found that it made sense to take off the heels for this activity!
We had already determined that my cold wouldn't stand a nights clubbing after the meal but I couldn't resist getting some pics in the dress I would have changed into, especially as it went with tights and shoes that I already had on. You can see a gallery of those pictures by clicking here.
Then whilst Nicki had a little lie down, I got my self ready for the evening.

I chose sensible sandals as I'd never driven wearing a floor length evening dress before and thought high heels would just add to the difficulty. And it gave me a chance to show off my painted toe nails too. I even had time to do my fingernails for the first time in ages. Nicki had recently found me a cute coat at a charity shop that we thought would go well with the outfit and I hope you'll agree that it does.
We arrived at the hotel with around fifteen minutes to spare - the reception was a scene of organized chaos as they hadn't allowed for multiple people of the same name christian name! We bumped in BJ and her partner who I hadn't seen for ages. Everyone eventually got their seat (around 100 people including many partners). The meal was excellent and we were lucky enough to sit next to Kim Angel and Laura, both of whom I know quite well, and another girl called Amanda who I have been out on Manchester trips with, which made it easier to chat.
Actually I didn't know that many people there - I guess that comes from doing so few London club trips now. Around ten-thirty people began making there way to the club opposite. We retired to the bar for a short while and grabbed a few snaps.

By now I was feeling rather under the weather (thanks to that pesky cold) so we headed for home. But it had been a great day and one I'd be happy to repeat.
