| The weekend of March 12th-14th brought the regular spring get together at Blackpool. Nicki and I travelled up on the Friday, arriving shortly after lunch which gave us time to settle in and me time to shave! | ||
![]() I
decided that I wanted to start the evening the the halter necked top
that I bought last time I was in Blackpool and I teamed it with my white
trousers and slingbacks. Nicki looked gorgeous in her short leather
skirt, leatherette bustier and silver sandals. After the usual Friday
night buffet we went upstairs to the bar/dance area. |
||
| There we met up with Amanda and Julie plus later on, Suze and JJ plus Dawn and Julie with Janet. The usual chat and dancing ensued. Later we were treated to young singer who did lot's of show tunes. Nicki and I throughly enjoyed ourselves singing along. We retired early (around midnight) in order to be ready for the following day. | ||
| We'd decided to spend the Saturday shopping away from Blackpool so I was up bright and early in order to get ready. For my shopping outfit I chose my deep burgundy Bardo top (easy to get off without messing up my hair), black trousers plus low-heeled square-toed courts. As the weather had been quite cold I added my ankle length woll winter coat. Nicki wore her usual weekend outfit of jeans, boots and roll neck jumper plus her sensible winter coat too. | ||
| We decided to drive along the seafront to Lytham and try the shops there. Parking was fairly easy and we were soon out anmongst the shops. After a few essential purchases from Superdrug, we moved on to the clothes shops and the charity shops. But it was to prove to be one of those mornings where nothing suited. Only I managed to find anything - a rather glitzy turquoise blue cowl-necked top which should look nice with the white trousers. Feeling a bit frustrated we dediced to head back to Blackpool where we knew there would be a few bigger name shops. Trouble was we'd exhausted our supply of small change so we only managed parking for 2hrs. After a hasty lunch grabbed in the main mall, we headed to BHS in the hope of picking up a bargain. And my luck was in - Nicki found me a pair of chocolate brown suede boots in size 8 and £10 off too ! | ||
| We popped into Somerfield on the way back to the hotel and, after a well earned cup of tea, Nicki said we should try out my new boots by taking a walk the the 'Adult shop' that we'd noticed nearby to the hotel. Well there were items in that shop that made my eyes water sjut thinking about how they might be used. Still the staff in there were very sweet and there were quite a few girls in there from the hotel too ! | ||
Returning
to the hotel there was just time for a very short rest before I had to
get ready for the evening. I decided on an old favourite for the evening
- my peacock feather prinf dress. At dinner I was chatting to JJ's
sister Julie about my hair and she mentioned that she used to be a hair
dresser and felt sure she could make my hair look really nice if only
she had the right stuff with her. After dinner I popped up to my room to
see if I had anything that might be of use. |
||
As
luck would have it I did have a few hair bands, a relic of previous
attempts to style my wigs, so when I got downstairs I showed Julie my
meager resources. Much to my delight she said that should be enough so
Nicki and I went with her to her room and she set to work.I'm amazed at the results, especially considering it only took about 15mins. I've no idea if I'll be able to do the same for myself but I really want to having seen the results. And it was so wonderfully cool too. |
||
| After some dancing and the evenings cabaret (a singer/comedian who wasnt as much fun as the previous nights entertainment) the annoucemnet was made regarding the upcoming fancy dress competition. | ||
![]() Nicki
and I had been looking for another opertunity for me to use the wings I
bought for Halloween so I had brought along my 'Angel' costume. So I
rushed to get changed. Nicki took these two pictures of me back stage
before the other competitors gathered. It became apparent that my outfit
wasnt really outrageous enough for this competition as the other girls
arrived. |
||
![]() Nicki
did her best to grab a few shots of the competition in progress but as
you can see she was a little bit far away! I didnt win anything but at
least I got one more nights use out of the wings ! |
||
Afterwards
Sue and I posed for a few pictures, contrasting her devils outfit with
my Angel. Then I dumped the wings in my room so that Nicki and I could
party the rest of the night away.Another fun Blackpool and I plan to be back again next spring. |
