Pub Lunch/Thai Dinner

For some time we had been saying it would be nice to just go out somewhere for a quiet evening meal but I had, for some reason, been reluctant to do this - strange considering all the Wendy shopping trips we had been doing locally. Anyway, it so happened that the Sunday newspapers mentioned a nice restaurant in the nearby village of Newton Longville so in early July we decided to go there. Before booking for an evening meal we decided that we should check it first during the day.
Nicki had recently found me a nice chocolate brown jacket to match my boots so I teamed this with a red camisole top and borrowed a black skirt from Nicki. As the boots were 3" heel I was nervous about driving in them so I also took my reliable black low heeled slingbacks. Off we headed for the village. The village was fairly easy to find but, being quite a large village we didn't immediately find the pub/restaurant we were looking for.
However, there was parking near the church and opposite it we spotted a Thai restaurant that looked promising. Having put my boots on we set off. A quick look inside and a glance at the menu confirmed it was a definite contender for our night out but we still wanted to find the original restaurant so we decided (after a walk around the church yard and a quick photo) to examine the village on foot.

We had been walking for only about five minutes when a car pulled up on the opposite side of the road and a guy got out and approached us. It turned out he was lost and was hoping for directions. I did my best to help him out (sadly our map didn't quite cover where he wanted to go) and he went on his way seemingly happy thanking us for our help. Having walked on for another half mile or so it became apparent that the pub wasn't in the direction we'd chosen so we returned to the car. I decided it really was time that I drove in high heels so I kept the boots on and it turns out it is indeed as easy as everyone told me it was to drive in them!
We went further into the village and at last spotted the pub. As it was nearly lunchtime I suggested we might as well have our lunch out at the pub and come to the Thai restaurant for our evening meal. The pub wasn't too busy though there were quite a few people eating there. They seemed to be part of a wedding party - we'd noticed one was happening at the church when we were there earlier. The meal was OK, if a little expensive and I certainly enjoyed having a meal out.
After the meal we set off for a little trip to Milton Keynes as Nicki needed some support bra's to wear after her (then upcoming) breast enhancement surgery. We headed straight for M&S as we knew we'd find what we need there. And of course we couldn't resist looking at the shoes whilst there too . We had a really good find - some high-heeled pale blue strappy sandals that would ideally compliment the blue trouser suit that I planned to wear that evening . On sale too! So of course I snapped up a pair. After that we returned home for a rest a to prepare for the evening out.

The trousers suit came with a matching halter-neck top but sadly it just didn't look right on me as, especially if I leaned forward, it tended to show my breast enhancers. But luckily I had a white camisole top with me so I wore it with the trousers, jacket and new shoes and, actually, it looked better that the halter-neck would have. I had my white bag with me too which went quite well I thought. Nicki wore her black top and black leather skirt, teamed with knee boots and looked most attractive! Flushed with the success of driving in 3" heels earlier in the day I didn't even take my driving shoes this time but just went out in the new sandals.
Arriving at the restaurant we went to the lounge area to read the menu and wait for our table. There was quite a crowd there (considering how out of the way it was) but as seems usual these days we didn't garner any more attention than you'd expect for two nicely dressed girls. The waitress came to take us to our table which was situated next to the water feature. Actually it was quite a romantic setting. We'd ordered their Bangkok Banquet but we hadn't appreciated quite how much food that was. Ten courses later and with perhaps only half what we ordered actually eaten (they asked us if we were dieting) we departed, stuffed but happy.

But wait. As we left the pub we realised that someone had double parked next to us, practically blocking us in. Here was a huge challenge for my high heeled driving ! Now of course this is where my femininity let me down. A sensible girl would have knocked on the doors of nearby houses to find the owner of the car (as Nicki offered to do). But my vanity meant that I spent a fruitless five minutes trying to edge our car out of the spot, with Nicki getting a bit upset trying to offer me directions whilst avoiding the enclosing cars! At this point the young chap who had blocked us in turned up, apologised and moved the car, allowing us (me slightly red faced under the foundation, Nicki gently teasing me) to head for home. The journey passed uneventfully and, after an hour or so winding down, it was time to put Wendy stuff away and to end a lovely day.
