A Day In September

Circumstances had prevented any outings since mid June. But with a trip to the Lake District in the offing I really did want to get a few new items for my wardrobe so I asked Nicki if we could do a Wendy shopping day and have an evening out at Pink Punters. She said that would be fine and it would give her a chance to arrange for us to meet up with Nicky, who we met on a previous trip and who wanted to chat with her about breast augmentation surgery.

As the weather remained mild I thought I'd wear a denim skirt with black vest top and sensible low heeled pumps. However, Nicki felt my original choice of skirt was a little too short so she lent me a slightly longer one. Looking at the pictures I'm glad she did at the the original must have been incredibly short and would no doubt have drawn unwelcome attention (though seh actually wore an even shorter one). Putting my hair in a basic pony tail and light daytime makeup completed the outfit (though less blusher would have been wiser perhaps).

I drove us to Milton Keynes where I like to do most of my Wendy shopping - the large variety of shops there usually means we can find something we both like. First we spent some time in Next. My main target was new tops but in the event I found my self heading to the changing rooms with a mixture of tops and skirts. In the end I picked just one of the skirts - black A-Line with bronze embroidery. We then spent some time is various shoe shops (Nicki is always on the lookout for more boots!) and in Dolcis we found some cute round toed slingback sandals for me that I was sure would look great with the skirt.
More shops followed but it seemed as though we had found all we could. But as Dorothy Perkins still had a sale on we had to give it a close look. I spotted an evening dress that I though would really suit me and Nicki spotted something she felt was even better. She was right and I was wrong. The red A-line skirt with bold patterning was just lovely and felt great to wear (click here to see me in it a few weeks later) - the evening dress I'd picked out looked like a sack. Yet again I realised how lucky I am to have a partner that wants me to look good and enjoys finding clothes for me.

The new skirtReturning home with our purchases it was time to consider what to wear for our evening out. As we were eating first in the hotel opposite I felt I wanted a slightly more demure look that I might normally have adopted for a clubbing night. So I teamed the new black skirt with Nicki's white camisole top and the high heeled sandals she gave me about a year before. I even had time to paint my toe nails for a change. Nicki on the other hand decided to wear a low cut ultra short black dress with little grey flowers . She looked gorgeous in it. I do wish she had let me take a picture but she has become more camera shy than ever this year.
Ready for a bopWe arrived in good time at the hotel and Nicky joined us shortly afterwards so we were quickly seated for the meal. I'd have to say that the meal left a bit to be desired. Though the meat was fine the vegetables were awful. And the fact that Nicky and Nicki spent almost the entire time discussing different cosmetic surgery techniques didn't exactly help my appetite. Eventually we made our way over to Pink Punters. There was the usual mixed crowd there though the dance floor was deserted this early on. But the music volume drove us straight upstairs to the attic lounge.
A sneeze can play havoc with your makeup After another hours cosmetic surgery chat (!) I was ready for a dance and, with Nicki's blessing (she wasn't able to dance that night), I headed down stairs. The dance floor still seemed deserted ,even though there were loads of people standing around it, but I was determined to dance so up I stepped. Soon afterwards the floor was full. However, I suspect this was more to do with a change in the music than a desire for everyone else to be dancing with me! It felt great to be out and dancing again since I hadn't been able to since March. After a non stop 50 minute bop and with my ears ringing I went back upstairs to see how Nicki was doing. As I expected she was pretty tired by now so we said our good byes and headed home.
