We
had decided that we'd see in the New Year at Pink Punters as there is
always a great crowd there. I was desperate to wear the new boots that I
had bought earlier in the month and, as per the current fashion, had
also purchased some black opaque tights to go with them. I'd planned to
team these with a black corset type top and a black and white tartan
micro miniskirt.I'd already spent thirty minutes trying to do something with my fringe. My most recent hair cut had resulted in the sides being too long to curl up and so I'd reluctantly had to pin the longer bits to the side. As a result I had a much thinner fringe than I would have liked. When I put on my chosen outfit to my horror I found it just didn't work. |

It seemed I'd lost a little too much weight and as a consequence the
skirt (an old favourite) was now unwearable. As you can imagine this was
a huge blow since I didn't have a fall back outfit with me. Luckily my
darling Nicki is always willing to open her wardrobe to me so we
attempted to put together an alternate outfit.I had no other shoes with me and this is one thing Nicki and I can't share, she being size seven where as I'm nearer an eight. So first we tried to find an alternate skirt that would go with the top, tights and boots. However it soon became apparent that the boots though nice were very tricky to match and that the top really didn't go with them at all. You can see the combinations we tried here. |

![]() So,
reluctantly, I also abandoned the top I'd chosen and began to work my
way through Nicki's. We both agreed that the hounds tooth skirt gave a
good shape and went OK with the boots so we stuck with those. A white
vest top looked OK but somehow seemed more suited to a summer outing
than a night's clubbing. A black vest top was a little better but
something was missing. A raid on Nicki's belt collection finally found
something to give the outfit a little zing - a silver belt. After the
picture was taken I also added a silver necklace and watch. With Nicki
looking yummy in long suede boots, denim mini skirt and black velvet
vest top we were finally ready for our night out. |

| It would be fair to say that driving in the new boots was quite a challenge since they actually allowed for very little flexibility at the ankle. Nevertheless we arrived safely at Pink Punters. As the car park was already full we parked in a side turning opposite. As we joined the queue to enter the security guy asked us if we had tickets or had rung ahead - we hadn't since that wasn't necessary on previous New Year parties!luckily he said that we'd probably just about manage to get in before they hit their capacity. Vowing that we must book up next year,we had an anxious ten minutes in the queue before finally being admitted. | ||
| It soon became clear that the new boots were also not going to allow me to dance all night so we carefully rationed ourselves. Fortunately our best session was the one immediately prior to midnight and as the clocks chimed Nicki and I kissed long and hard to see in the New Year. After Auld Lang Syne and a final dance it was time to head for home bringing the old year to a very satisfactory conclusion. | ||
